PVC Free Foam Board Process
In the free foam process, the melt expands freely without restriction as soon as it exits the die. After a short free expansion phase, it enters a much larger calibration unit. This creates a cellular structure across the entire cross-section of the extrudate. Cooling moderately limits surface cell growth, resulting in a continuous-density sheet with a moderately hard, smooth surface. The main advantage lies in its process simplicity, making it ideal for producing sheets 2–6 mm thick with simple geometries and a matte finish.
